Director of Sales & Marketing

As the Director of Sales & Marketing , you will lead the sales team in driving revenue through strategic planning, account management, and new business development. You’ll build strong client relationships, oversee group and corporate sales efforts, and collaborate with hotel leadership to meet and exceed revenue goals. This role requires strong leadership, sales expertise, and a passion for hospitality.

Key Responsibilities
  • You will build excellent relationships with clients, third parties, and community organizations in order to generate business for the hotel. You’ll providing strategic direction to the team of sales and catering professionals to achieve the hotel’s revenue goals and maximize revenue performance.
  • Your daily tasks will focus on guiding the sales and catering team to achieve monthly revenue goals. This includes developing action plans; analyzing data; reporting on results; and overseeing marketing efforts.
  • Your boss is the General Manager.
  • As Director of Sales, your job prepares you for a progressive career in larger hotels or in more complex markets. The DOS position is a good springboard to national sales or a third-party planner position; this role could also be a stop on the road to General Manager.
Education & Experience

Applicants should have: 

  • A college degree or two years of hotel experience
  • 5 years of experience in Hotel Sales Department, with a track record of sales growth, experience in social media marketing, sourcing and booking group accounts, active membership in influential hotel sales organizations, and knowledge of sales systems (Delphi preferred).
  • Lexington Market Experience, Highly Preferred.
  • Hilton Experience, Highly Preferred.

Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have completed special certifications

  • Create and lead profitable and cost-effective marketing and sales programs.
  • Experience in crafting and monitoring effective social media hotel marketing campaigns.
  • Direct and coordinate an impactful advertising program.
  • Analyze and interpret various analytics and stay updated on competitive trends.
  • Maintain consistent monitoring of results and demonstrate the ability to adapt strategies.
  • Ensure customers and clients are delighted.

Business Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of the Lexington Market and previous hotel selling experience.
  • Engage with the local community to develop business opportunities and establish hotel street credibility.
  • Create an exceptional work environment that is fun, courteous, friendly, and professional.
  • Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, particularly with prior Hilton Pep experience.
  • Exceptional attention to detail in client and associate follow-up.
  • Strong decision-making skills in revenue management.
  • Excellent pricing and positioning abilities.
  • Consistently achieve revenues that meet or exceed budget.
  • Quickly evaluate alternatives and make informed plans of action.
  • Teach a wide range of selling, detailing, and closing techniques.
  • Proven track record in selling and negotiating.
  • Effectively balance the needs of clients, the company, and the owner.
