Asheville\nVeterinary Associates is seeking an experienced veterinarian to serve as\nMedical Director. Asheville Veterinary Associates has been a cornerstone of\ncompassionate veterinary care in the Asheville community since 1972. Our\nservice-oriented staff provides state-of-the-art pet care in welcoming\nfacilities while maintaining our commitment to treating every pet with the same\ncare and compassion as if they were our own.

We pride ourselves on offering comprehensive veterinary\nservices including wellness and preventive care, vaccinations, parasite\ncontrol, dental care, and surgery, all delivered with a focus on\nprevention-based medicine that maximizes quality of life for our patients.

Our Team

Asheville Veterinary Associates is a three-doctor practice\nworking collaboratively to provide exceptional patient care. As Medical\nDirector, you will lead our talented team while fostering a supportive\nenvironment that encourages professional growth, learning, and excellence in\npatient care.

Medical Director Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic medical leadership and\noversight for all veterinary operations.
  • Establish and maintain medical protocols and\nquality care standards
  • Mentor and develop associate veterinarians and\nsupport staff
  • Monitor doctor performance and production
  • Oversee surgical and medical cases, ensuring\npositive outcomes and excellent client communication
  • Drive revenue growth
  • Participate in recruiting and interviewing\nprocess for doctors and key staff members
  • Collaborate with practice management on business\ninitiatives and hospital growth
  • Support inventory management and cost control\nmeasures
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients and\nthe community

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) an\naccredited university
  • Current North Carolina veterinary license in\ngood standing
  • Minimum of 5 years clinical experience
  • Previous leadership or management experience\nrequired
  • Strong surgical and medical skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal\nabilities
  • Demonstrated team leadership and development\ncapabilities
  • Interest in or experience with integrative\nmedicine approaches
  • Business acumen and financial management skills
