Position Summary:

The Outside Sales Representative is responsible for generating new business and maintaining relationships with existing customers in the construction, remodeling, and home improvement industries. This role requires a self-motivated, customer-focused individual who can identify opportunities, provide expert product knowledge, and deliver value-added solutions to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with contractors, builders, remodelers, and other trade professionals.
  • Promote and sell Reading Lumber’s full line of building materials, including lumber, siding, roofing, windows, doors, and specialty products.
  • Conduct regular site visits to assess customer needs, provide quotes, and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Prepare and follow up on estimates, bids, and proposals.
  • Collaborate with inside sales, purchasing, and delivery team to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of product lines, pricing, and market trends.
  • Achieve or exceed monthly and annual sales goals.
  • Represent Reading Lumber professionally at trade shows, networking events, and customer appreciation events.
  • Resolve customer issues quickly and effectively, ensuring long-term satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in building materials sales, construction supply, or a related field (preferred).
  • Strong knowledge of lumber, roofing, siding, windows, doors, and other building products.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Highly motivated, organized, and able to work independently.
  • Valid driver’s license
