Job Title: Infection Preventionist

Location: 462 1st Avenue, New York, NY 10016

Contract Duration: 8-week

Schedule: 9:00 AM-5:00 PM | 8 hours/day | 40 hours/week

Weekly Breakdown:
Weekly Gross: $3,823.00 Per Week 
On W2(Taxable): $1,520.00 Per Week 
Stipend(Non-Taxable): $2,303.00 Per Week 

Job Summary:

The Infection Preventionist is responsible for the prevention, surveillance, investigation, and control of infections and communicable diseases in a hospital setting. This role supports a culture of safety and quality by implementing evidence-based practices, ensuring regulatory compliance, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to drive improved patient outcomes and experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct surveillance and data analysis of infection trends and outcomes.
• Investigate and manage outbreaks and potential infection transmission events.
• Develop, implement, and evaluate infection prevention and control policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
• Conduct training and education programs for staff on infection prevention best practices.
• Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal infection control regulations.
• Report communicable diseases to appropriate public health agencies, including the Department of Health.
• Utilize EPIC Bugsy system for documentation and surveillance.
• Serve as a subject matter expert and resource for infection prevention strategies.

Required Qualifications:

• Certification:
  • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC), issued by the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology (CBIC) – Required
• Education:
  • Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Epidemiology, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, Nursing, or a related discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Preferred: Master’s degree in one of the aforementioned fields.
• Experience:
  • Required:
    • At least 2 years of clinical experience or experience in infection prevention/control, healthcare epidemiology, or a related field in a hospital or healthcare setting.
    • Experience with EPIC Bugsy system.
  • Preferred:
    • With a Master’s degree: 4 years of relevant experience.
    • With a Bachelor’s degree: 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Experience with Department of Health reporting is strongly preferred.

Key Skills and Competencies:

• Strong knowledge of infection control practices and regulations.
• Proficiency in EPIC Bugsy or similar infection surveillance software.
• Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to lead training and education sessions.
• Regulatory knowledge (CDC, OSHA, CMS, TJC, NY DOH).
