Launch innovations in nearly every commercial and defense aircraft platform. Honeywell's Advance and Applied Technology operation is seeking a Principal Navigation Scientist to join the Navigation and Autonomy group located in Plymouth, Minnesota. Our group is a world leader in navigation research for next-generation navigation products. Navigation and filtering (sensor fusion) is our core competency, with a strategic focus on alternate (GPS denied) navigation. Technologies developed will be applied to products in commercial, defense, aviation, and space markets on both existing and emerging platforms. Our solutions enable a variety of piloted and non-piloted vehicles. Key Responsibilities Work with R&D teams to develop technology from TRL1-6. Contribute as a technology contributor, lead, team lead, principal investigator, or program manager, depending on project needs. Engage in ideation, problem solving, researching state-of-the-art, simulation, analysis, and system development and testing (TRL 6 flight or ground tests). Assist in pursuing and winning government and industry contracts (e.g., DARPA, AFRL, DOD, commercial). Ideate, collaborate, develop, secure, and execute internal projects. Attend conferences, write papers, and develop proposals as part of proposal teams. Conduct advanced and applied research (TRL 0-6 or 7) and support product teams (TRL 9) as needed. Must Have Masters degree in Aerospace, Autonomy, Navigation, or Controls. At least 5 years of experience in navigation (strapdown navigation), estimation, and filtering (Kalman filter, EKF, UKF, particle filters, etc.). Experience with GPS/INS blended navigation systems. Strong simulation and analytical skills. Experience implementing or enhancing GPS/INS with alternate aiding modes. Must be a U.S. Person due to export control laws (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, protected status, or ability to obtain export authorization). Valued Skills PHD in Aerospace, Autonomy, Navigation, or Controls. Experience with alternate (GPS denied) navigation approaches such as vision aided, celestial, magnetic anomaly, or other modalities. Experience implementing or enhancing GPS/INS with additional aiding modalities. Systems engineering background with development, testing, and flight or ground testing of prototype navigation systems. Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, C/C++, AI/Neural network tools. Additional Information
